the t-shirt edit

Blue Prom Dresses

m8 I love my T-shirts a little too much. So much I’m writing a narcissistic post all about them, allowing to make me feel a little less bad about my slightly obsessive T-shirt hauls. I own too many t-shirts that I care to admit therefore it was only fitting to narrow down the ones you need to the ones you really need (but really you don’t need all of these, act confident and you’ll look good in anything).

You always need a bold top to stand out in your wardrobe so I opted for this red one. It pairs perfectly with a pair of culottes and I love it. You can dress it up or down, a bold top is the perfect casual complement to prevent the outfit from looking over-the-top. Picture this: a bold tee tucked into dark mom jeans and red heels, yes heels! A gorgeous epiphany of colours. How bomb would it look with this denim jacket from Topshop that I purchased this month?

The striped tee was inevitably going to find its way into this post – I wear them too often but then I do substitute them for patterned tops that easily become obsolete. I did a post last year all about how to style striped tops although I’m not sure if I would approve of  the graphics now (how I’ve changed on my blog in the past year baffles me). I literally wear stripes with everything and I have a pair of spotty trousers that I love to pattern clash with – boom look at how stylish I am. I personally wouldn’t say that a graphic tee features in my top t-shirts but I have my eye on a few band tees that would look gorgeous paired with a black slip dress.

It’s not exactly summer weather now so long sleeved tops are perfect for the early winter to wear outside. Layered with a coat like this one from mango or on its own with a pair of jeans they’re just so versatile. I seem to be lacking in the long sleeved t-shirt department as I only own one, a shopping trip is due maybe? I’m going to Italy next month so a little bit of pre trip shopping may have to happen.

The white tee is an essential for any wardrobe and it doesn’t just have to be one, you can have multiple. I wear them so much that I just interchange between two (I lie I have about six but we won’t get into detail about that). THEY LITERALLY GO WITH ANYTHING, so much so that statement needed to be in capitals for emphasis. I read in Vogue a while ago that whilst you should buy more expensive basics, white tshirts are worn so much it’s better to buy a cheaper alternative because they get worn quicker. Again I’ve written a full post with outfit ideas on ways to wear a white tee if you wanted a further read.

Do you have any staple tees? Or maybe a top that you’ve worn to death – let me know!

I've recently fallen in love with t-shirts. I prefer the more stiff t-shirts if that makes sense? Gives a more classic, vintage, blocky look instead of a flimsy t-shirt. The red one reminds me of a 'stiff' t-shirt. I think you style them so well!

Yes I totally get what you mean – the red one is definitely more structured than the others 🙂

I have a light grey tee from Brandy that I bought in their 50% sale for only £6.50 and I've worn it so many times throughout the past few months. It's definitely a must-have. Also, I love the red t-shirt you showed

I am a t-shirt whore! I don't what it is but there is something so powerful about t-shirts! I personally love ones with a lot of graphics on it. That striped t-shirt with the denim jacket is such a classic combo. SO inspired!

if it weren't my mother, my wardrobe would only be filled with blacks and whites and grays and muted tones. I love different patterns but too much color isn't currently my fave thing so the shirts I have loved this season is a black and white top with net long sleeves (originally got for my bestie's bridal shower) paired with a gray cardigan and BAM! i have worn it so much that my family has asked if I need to but new clothes
