I’ve recently fallen in love with artist Laura Callaghan, her art representing that of both youth and the great struggle of being a girl in the 21st century. Like let’s be real, how absolutely gorgeous is her work? The combination of colour and form just drew me in and the impeccable attention to detail leads you finding something new everytime you look at the art. Using a combination of watercolour, Indian ink and an isograph pen (someone pls tell me what this is) Laura’s work is truly amazing.
She goes against what’s considered ‘normal’ and instead curates an image that is relatable, feminine and lighthearted. There is no doubt that I will continue to love her work and if you want to see a continual stream of amazing art then follow Laura and her instaaaa. Whilst scrolling through her website I also saw that she was the Illustration editor for Oh Comely magazine from 2010-2013; Oh Comely is an utterly gorgeous magazine and I can definitely picture her working for them (the aesthetics are through the roof)! Her work has been used on sites such as Urban Outfitters and Refinery29 and her art is most definitely up there with some of my favourites.
Are there any artists you’re head over heals for? If you’d like me to do any posts like this in the future definitely let me know as I really want to talk about more art on my blog 🙂 happy Thursday!
