Christmas party? You tend to associate that with sparkly dresses, velvet, wearing the typical seasonal fare. But I like to do things a little differently. A shop you might’ve heard of called Tobi kindly sent me a few pieces to try on and I’ve literally fallen in love with everything!
Culottes are probably my favourite thing right now and I can’t believe this is only the second pair I own. When one pair is in the wash the other pair is being paraded about with different tops – what outfit can you not make with a pair of culottes? So why shouldn’t it be your next party ensemble; these black culottes from Tobi would go nicely with a strappy top. In fact they’re probably great for everyday wear as well, culottes are just an essential piece in your wardrobe (and even if the hype around them fades they’ll still be close to my heart.
Combining a few of my favourite pieces recently, this is the perfect outfit for someone who doesn’t want to get too dressy. When I was in Siena a few months ago, I stumbled upon this shop called Scout and they sold the prettiest denim jacket from a brand called Subdued. Despite already owning a classic denim jacket I feel it’s too long; I prefer slightly shorter ones as they look a little less grungy and you can make an outfit look more put together. I saw, I loved and I bought it. Also, a denim jacket takes the edge off a little bit, you don’t want to be totally freezing (have I forgotten it’s winter)??
Strappy top? It’s not my usual attire but I love this piece, the only downside is the absence of lingerie. I usually try and cover up every bit of my body I’m not 100% confident with but this is the age of taking risks and I’m a risk taker so I will take the risk and wear this with confidence. It looks pretty fab with the culottes as well; spotty or black – take your pick!
For those of you that might not want to bear the skin but still want to dress up (myself included) a slip dress over a turtleneck/roll neck/polo neck (I still use all three interchangeably) is a pretty cute idea. I love this blue one as most you see in stores are black or sparkly *closes the UO tab* so this is something a little bit different. I have a basic turtleneck from New Look that looks great underneath although depending how hot you get it might not see you through the whole night.
What do you like to wear for Christmas parties? Any favourite picks for this year? Let me know as I love to read all your comments 🙂
