Last Thursday it was my birthday! Yes it has been 16 years since my mother gave birth to the miracle that was Eleanor and it is my ‘sweet sixteenth’. Kinda crazy! The past week has been super busy so it’s the first chance I’ve had to sit down and do a little blogging. Fitting with the update of another year older I thought I would update you on what a year this has been.

Over the past year I’ve changed, the people around me have changed and I don’t know why everyone always assumes that’s a bad thing. The teenage years are always seemingly the hardest, growing up in a world where there shouldn’t be but is a lot of prejudice towards the youth, getting your voice heard may seem like an impossible task… but it isn’t. I have a blog that has the power to change what you think, even without realising it straight away.

But it hasn’t just been me that has changed over the past year. So has my blog. I got a camera for Christmas last year so it’s nearly been a year of snapping away with my Nikon, and what a year it has been. At the start of this year I felt in such a bad place with my blog, writing about beauty and fashion is something I really enjoy but it just didn’t feel right. I wanted to do something different. The change really came when I stopped doing monthly favourites; I realised that I really didn’t need to keep buying new things to talk about because there are bigger issues that materialistic products. So I started talking about art, feminism, ethical issues surrounding fashion and a whole bunch of topics that effect a whole lotta people. I write about the issues I want to write about because I’m passionate about them not just the topics I think people will read.
That said, there is the odd beauty post in the mix too. I started writing as a beauty blog so I’m not going to let that go, but I still want to develop new ideas and projects, work with brands I love and talk about the stuff that gets people talking. One of the new ideas I’m talking about was #anewageinspiration – I’ve already done two interviews with people that inspire me and I hope to do many more in the future. This is just the start of something new that I’m really excited about.
I’ve had the opportunity more than ever before to travel, going to Italy last month and Spain twice in the summer – obviously I blogged that to. I have no idea what that area of my blog will be like in the coming year but with GCSEs next year there will definitely be a break in any outdoor posts, in fact the posts on this blog will probably seize up for a good few months. Nevertheless, I shall try to pack next summer full of exciting blog posts and day trips.
Thank you for continuing to read my blog over the past year and seeing it change and develop. It’s exciting to know that I’ll be able to look back at my writing and ideas in years to come and I hope my blog will feature in my future somehow. Let me know in the comments how long you’ve been reading my blog, I would love to know whether you were here from the start, a new reader or maybe this is your first time reading Eleanor Claudie!
Here’s the a year of being sixteen, I do hope it’s a good one.
